The 6 Months Pre-Sea Deck Cadet Training Programme is specifically designed to train new cadets with the required competencies to safely conduct the duties as an Officer in Charge of a navigational watch, both at sea and in port, in accordance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended in 1995 (STCW Convention), Chapter VIII Regulation VIII/2 and STCW Code Chapter VIII. Our course is fully compliant with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) model course 7.03 framework and is approved by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.

This course shall be conducted in the following phases:
Pre-Sea Phase – this is a 6-month Pre-Sea Cadet training which involves intensive classroom knowledge transfer lessons personally taught by our highly qualified seagoing experienced Facilitators. Personal Safety, legislative requirement, ship knowledge, basic navigation and seamanship knowledge are the main focus in this program.
Upon completion of the Pre-Sea Phase, the cadets shall proceed to the Sea Service Phase.

Upon the successful completion of the program, the cadets shall receive a Certificate of Nautical Studies issued by WAVELINK MARITIME INSTITUTE and approved by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.

For foreign countries, a pass in the GCE “A” levels or equivalent or a 10 Plus 2 years examination with a minimum aggregate of 65% pass in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Applicants should also preferably have completed the STCW 95 Basic Safety Training (BST) courses.
All applications are subjected to the final approval of the Selection Board commissioned by the Wavelink Maritime Institute and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
Age limits: Applicants should preferably be from 18 - 25 years old. Applicants above 25 years old may be considered for acceptance on a case-by-case basis.
Decision of the Selection Board is final and no appeal is allowed.
